Alan Hamilton Has Been Inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers

Shiver Hamilton Campbell is proud to share that partner Alan Hamilton has been inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. Alan received the honor during the College’s 2026 Annual Meeting in New York City, joining a select group of trial lawyers from across the United States and Canada.
About the American College of Trial Lawyers
Founded in 1950, the American College of Trial Lawyers is widely regarded as the preeminent organization of trial lawyers in North America. Fellowship is extended by invitation only, after a thorough investigation of each candidate’s skill, ethics, and reputation among judges and fellow lawyers. Candidates must have at least fifteen years of trial experience before they can be considered, and membership in any state or province cannot exceed one percent of its total lawyer population.
The College is dedicated to maintaining and improving the standards of trial practice, professionalism, and the administration of justice, with a strong commitment to an independent judiciary, the rule of law, and the right to trial by jury.
A Career Built in the Courtroom
Alan decided early in his career to represent people harmed by negligence and corporate wrongdoing. After graduating magna cum laude from the University of Georgia School of Law, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif, he turned down offers from corporate defense firms to pursue a plaintiff’s practice. His background includes a federal judicial clerkship with Judge William M. Acker, Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama and practice with a nationally recognized Atlanta trial firm before he co-founded Shiver Hamilton Campbell in 2011.
Today Alan focuses on catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases, including truck accident cases, negligent security and premises liability claims, automotive and tire product liability, and fire and explosion injuries. He has tried numerous cases to verdict, appeared before courts in fifteen states, and helped clients obtain seven and eight figure verdicts and settlements. Among them are a $29.25 million premises liability verdict in Fulton County State Court and a $27 million trucking verdict in Muscogee County State Court. More of the firm’s work can be found on our case results page.
Leadership and Recognition
Alan serves as an Executive Officer and board member of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association and is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. He has been named to the Georgia Super Lawyers Top 100 list, recognized by Georgia Trend as one of the state’s Legal Elite, and holds an AV Preeminent peer review rating from Martindale-Hubbell. He is also a frequent CLE speaker on trial skills such as jury selection, opening statements, and closing argument.
Fellowship in the College reflects the respect Alan has earned from judges and lawyers on both sides of the courtroom, and it is a recognition of the dedication he brings to every client and family he represents.
