Nia Norwood

Attorney

Nia Nzinga Norwood is a litigator with experience handling complex civil rights, tort, constitutional, and appellate matters in Georgia’s state and federal courts. At the heart of Nia’s practice is a deep belief that every person deserves to be heard, treated with dignity, and given a meaningful opportunity to seek justice, and she brings that commitment to every client and every case.

Before joining the plaintiff’s bar, Nia served as an Honors Assistant Attorney General in the Georgia Attorney General’s Office, where she tried cases in three of Georgia’s federal courts and litigated wrongful death matters involving multimillion dollar damage claims. She later served as the term law clerk to Justice Verda Colvin on the Georgia Supreme Court.

Nia graduated cum laude from the University of Georgia School of Law, where she was a decorated oral advocate. She was inducted into the Order of the Barristers; was a finalist and Second Best Oralist at the Southeastern Invitational Moot Court Competition; and was a finalist in the Emory Civil Rights Competition. She also competed on the Law School’s decorated Mock Trial Team. Additionally, Nia was also a member of the Georgia Law Review and served on its Managerial Board.

Prior to law school, Nia graduated magna cum laude from the University of Georgia and earned her undergraduate degree in Sociology and Political Science, reflecting her longstanding interest in both the law and the people whose lives it affects.
